N.S Hillyard Recognized with New Basketball Court at St. Joseph Civic Arena
February 14, 2022
Hillyard is proud to be part of the introduction of the N.S. Hillyard Court, recently installed in the St. Joseph Civic Arena.
The St. Joseph Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department installed the floor on Monday and Tuesday of this week.
The design honors both the city of St. Joseph with the image of the Pony Express Rider, but also the company’s founder, Newton S. Hillyard, the inventor of modern-day gym finish. For 115 years, our gym floor finishes have been protecting thousands of floors and the athletes that compete on them.
“Hillyard is proud of our community and our heritage to the game of basketball. As we celebrate our 115th anniversary, we are humbled to have our founder recognized for his contributions to St. Joseph and the game of basketball memorialized with the N.S. Hillyard Court,” said Brett Carolus, Hillyard’s Chief Administration Officer.
As a staple in the community, and just blocks from the Civic Arena, Hillyard remains committed to St. Joseph and the continuing redevelopment of downtown by moving forward with our new state-of-the-art manufacturing and distribution center.
The portable basketball court will be housed at the Civic Arena, and the Harlem Globetrotters will play the inaugural game on the floor this Thursday, February 10th.
