Hillyard Joins Second Harvest and Community Organizations in the Fight Against Hunger
ST. JOSEPH, MO, September 1, 2024 – Hillyard is proud to announce its participation in Second Harvest Community Food Bank’s Food Fight 2024, a community-wide effort to combat hunger in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas. The Corporate Food Fight is Second Harvest’s signature food and fund drive. Hillyard is joining businesses of similar size in a friendly competition to raise the most food and funds throughout September.
Food Fight 2024 runs from September 1st to September 30th, coinciding with Hunger Action Month, a national campaign to increase awareness and resources to address hunger. Hillyard has placed collection boxes at its facilities to gather nonperishable food from employees. Additionally, those wishing to contribute financially can make a monetary donation online by visiting this link and selecting "Make a Donation for Your Team." Be sure to choose Hillyard as the team to ensure contributions are credited accordingly.
Monetary donations are incredibly impactful, as Second Harvest’s purchasing power enables them to provide three meals for every dollar donated. All food and monetary donations will be tallied at the end of the month, with monetary gifts converted into pounds for the competition ($1 = 2 lbs.).
"Hillyard has always been deeply rooted in the well-being of our community. By joining forces with Second Harvest and other local organizations, we are not just participating in a competition; we are taking a stand against hunger,” said Robb Ensign, Hillyard’s Chief Program Officer. “Our goal is simple: to bring hope and nourishment to our community's kids, families, and senior adults by donating the most money and food during this year's Food Fight.”
